Hearing and responding…

First, an introduction, of a sort. This is, in my personal archetypal universe, a portrait of the grandmother known as Protector. She volunteered for the job from her place on my Codex canvas where she entertains herself by whispering in my ear most of the night!

And, yes, you’ve probably met her before because she’s been really busy lately!

Now, a bit of a secret. When I was hatching up the Protector Grammy archetype she began as the Queen of the way we’ve always done it! Kind of the Inner Critic sort of energy who loves us and decides what’s safe based primarily on what we lived through yesterday. And, for a long time, she was mostly words in my head.

Then, early one morning, I realized she had a lot in common with Grandmother Moon. Predictable. Consistent. Loving. Light in the dark.

This is, on many levels, me doing – as Shiloh encourages us to do – my own work!

Then, our dear sister, Havi, led us into the journey with Power/Fierce Love Grandmother and my inner puzzle pieces began shifting!

You see, I realized that I’ve recently created an image of my own Grandmother Journey – my journey of intentional Fierce Compassion – which is a whole lot like a self-portrait in four parts. (And I just thought I was taking cool pictures!)

First… The utter transformation which began inside me the moment I learned I was going to be a grandmother. You met her last month.

Then… A whole lot of intentionally filling my Medicine Basket.

And… Claiming my ability to choose. She’s been busy, lately, too! Insisting, in fact, on our divinely ordained ability to choose.

And then… The new news where it bumps into some very old news. The place, for me, where Havi quit preachin’ and went to meddlin’! (Or maybe she helped me hear what Grandmother Moon has been trying to tell me!)

Just one word.

Did you hear it?

Priestess!

It’s a word that’s been following me around for a while now. Frankly, a scary word.

A word that we don’t use!

Well, historically.

(Except that a whole lot of my grandmothers probably did use that word. Or others very close to it!)

Just between us, I have no idea where all this noticing and wondering is headed. And I’m oddly okay with that!

For now, it’s enough to know that it matters. To keep doing the work.

Protected even in the wilderness of this place.

And to thank you for hearing me. For witnessing. It helps, so much, to have traveling companions!
