Dear Steve,
In 1985 I sat in a crowed auditorium at Rollins College and listened to you share, with a group of Developing Capable People leaders-in-training, that if a teenaged child had five people who would listen to them and take them seriously and not shame them or blame them for their questions, that child was practically immune from ever attempting suicide.
I knew I wanted to be one of those five people for my young son.
Never did I imagine that I would be teaching others, mainly grandmothers, to be one of those five people for themselves, and their kids, and the world, all these years later.
I’ve found my way of sharing that. It’s called Intentional Creativity®. In fact, it’s become my SoulWork. Being one of those five people is in, with, and under all that I do. And, now, I’ve even discovered a form for it. Grammy Camp!
I know you can’t be here in this world to help us tend the soup and the hearts but you will be there in my heart.

Grammy Camp… a retreat design
I am gathered with women, grandmothers of the literal or archetypal sort, in place where there is water and a fire circle. We have come together for three or four days, united by our desire to make the world a better place for kids to grow up in, using the wisdom of Developing Capable People, and the methods of Intentional Creativity®.
Our theme for the retreat and for our 13 Step Intentional Creativity® painting process is Honey in Your Heart.
The entire experience is designed to teach on many levels, from campfire songs to boiling bones to considering our global context. We’ll journal and paint and pray in dots. And we’ll learn some concrete Intentional Creativity® projects to take home to our families.
My Cosmic Cowgirl sister, Hobby Parent, is collaborating with me on everything from desired outcomes to specific projects and logistics. Recent developments indicate that a sailboat might be involved! (Which could mean watercolors instead of acrylics, but I think we could manage the sacrifice…)
